Summer Blog Update

IMG-2107.jpg

“I miss the old FTW Blog where Dr. Drew would post at least once a month if not twice.” Listen, kid, I’ve been working on some stuff, so chill.

.

Honestly, I’ve been juggling numerous different projects as of late, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
.

So in this latest post, I wanted to catch everyone up on all of the side projects I’ve been working on over the past couple months. These projects range from working with new Esports teams, presentations, podcasts, and more.
.

A Little Housekeeping

I’ve recently been using Twitter more so than Instagram; this will be the best platform to keep up with the blog. I also love using the LinkedIn platform for the simple fact that users there are there for one reason only → Business and business only.
.

If you currently don’t follow me on either, know that you should be having a severe case of FOMO right now.

Cavs Legion GC

cavs legion GC

I was thrilled to announce last month that I have been working with Cavs Legion GC from the NBA2K league. Cavs legion has built an incredible facility in Battery Park. The space is a mix of the typical Cleveland brick architecture with gaming rigs and TVs as far as the eye can see. I walked in and immediately wondered how much it would be to put a cot in the corner.

.

Aside from the jaw-dropping space, the management/content team has put together a well-oiled machine. Cavs Legion is continually partnering with some of the biggest companies in the industry and also smaller Cleveland companies like myself.
.

Working with console athletes is a change from the typical PC gamers that I’ve seen. I play more console than PC, so I know the struggles that come with longer gaming sessions on a console. Console gaming typically sees injuries such as lower back, neck, and thumb injuries.
.

I’ve also noticed that a serious change needs to be made in regards to chair type and monitor setups for the majority of LAN based games. Having chairs that are squishy, non-adjustable, minimal structural support, and low chair back height isn’t the way to go here. Quality gaming chairs in this environment would provide some much-needed relief for players.
.

Evidence of terrible seating

By working with both elite PC and console athletes, I’m able to gain exposure in the proverbial potpourri of system based injuries in the Esports world. I hope to continue working with these organizations and hopefully bringing home another Championship to the ‘Land!

.

Cleveland State Esports

CSU Esports

I’ve also begun treating the Cleveland State Esports LoL team (diamond and master players aka top 2% of all players in NA). The injuries here range from chronic neck issues to severe hand/wrist pain. The injuries sustained in the PC gaming scene are typically hand/wrist and neck issues.

As with most desk injuries, most of the injuries I’ve seen are chronic, so the treatment here will be an ongoing process over the next few weeks. However, it’s a fantastic feeling when the patient feels instant relief and shows a dramatic increase in range of motion after some manual therapy/manipulation from one session of work.
.

Healthy Gaming 4 Kids

Growing up I was unbelievably nervous in front of crowds. So much so that my parents would have to bribe me with candy or five bucks to make it through a Christmas concert.

.

College helped me out tremendously with becoming more comfortable in crowds. If you know me now, you will now that I’ve blown through that barrier.
.

So, when I was approached to put together a presentation for healthy gaming for kids, I was all about it. I recently presented this lecture in June at 1life2play here in Cleveland.

.

In the upcoming months, I’m hoping to continue tweaking the presentation in hopes of presenting to other venues that see a need for gaming health education (which should be every place there are people gaming aka everywhere).
.

If you would like me to present or even do an informal Q&A, feel free to email me or comment below.

.

Esports Summit

Within the next couple of months, there will be the first-ever Esports Health Summit debuted online. Several influential experts in the space were chosen to add their knowledge to the platform for Esports education.

.

According to my understanding, the professions range from exercise experts, PT’s, mental health experts, and more. I feel honored to be chosen in this group of talented individuals.
.

Once I have more information I will link the sign up here through my affiliate link. There will be a ton of great information from some of the best minds in the space, so check it out if you have an Esports team, are a gamer, or have kids that are gamers.
.

You shouldn’t have to be in pain to do something you love. Fix the problem and get back to gaming!

.

The Project Esports Podcast

I recently continued to hone my Podcasts skills by being a featured guest on the Project Esports Podcast. On this particular episode, we discussed topics ranging from Riot Games lawsuits, Magic the Gathering desperately needing to get their stuff together, FTW Blog interview,  and discuss Bubly Water flavors (I’m still waiting on my Bubly water sponsorship sooooooo)

.

I’m looking forward to being on the Podcast in the future and chatting with these two knowledgeable guys.

Other News

Besides all of these projects, I’ve continued to run my chiropractic clinic here in Cleveland. My wife and I also moved out into a house with a little more land. It’s so relaxing and quiet at our new place. The commute increased only 10 minutes on to what we were already commuting so that trade-off was well worth it.

.

.

My goals for the latter half of the year are:

  • To continue to help out the Esports Orgs here in Northeast Ohio with the possibility to work with any other orgs or collegiate teams in the surrounding states.

  • Start the journey to working the massive Esports Orgs Worldwide

  • Rework past articles for better readability and add more visuals

  • Gain sponsors for FTW! Blog to allow me to increase my reach to a broader audience

  • Continue to help out my fellow gamers/desk workers by increasing my knowledge in the space and using my witty banter.

.

If you have any questions, comments, or flame, please leave them below or email me.

Have a great day and GAME ON!!
