In part two of our standing desk series, Nick
Once again I'll let Nick Joanes from Painless Movement take it from here.
So if you are on the look-out for a new standing desk, here are some quick tips to help you get started. Especially if you are a gamer, these are some of the features you should look out for.
.
Adjustability
When buying a desk, this is probably the most important feature of all. A desk should have a decent adjustable range (and one that suits your height). Generally, some of the more expensive desks have a larger adjustable range, but there are actually plenty of budget-friendly options which can be adjusted from below 29” to above 48” suitable for most people.
.
Depth and Size of Desk
Essentially, there are two types of standing desks, one is a full desk replacement and the other is a desk converter. A full-desk is far larger and has a lot more surface area for your computer, keyboard
Many people like the portability of a desk converter, but I think as a gamer you really want that extra surface area especially for using the mouse properly.
.
Curvature of the desktop
The newer and better designed standing desks now offer lots of options when it comes to design and function. As well as many color and size options for the desktop, they also come in square or curved shapes.
Often this comes down to personal preference, but the curvature of the desk in my opinion not only looks

Cord management
This is a big deal for office workers a gamers alike. Cables are not only a tripping hazard, but also just a general eye-sore, so it is nice to have them neatly tucked away.
Two things you should make sure your standing desk has are grommet holes and a cable tray.
Grommet holes are the pre-drilled holes in the desktop surface which allow you to feed the cables to below the desk. These will the sit in the cable tray which is tucked underneath at the back of the desk so it is out of sight. From there you can run the cables to the sockets.
If you want to go a step further, some desks even come with mountable
.
Electric or Manual Desk
When looking at a new standing desk, you can either get an electric or a manual one. The manual standing desks are generally cheaper, but we recommend paying a little extra for the electric ones.
The thing is, if you have a big gaming setup with a large desktop computer and multiple monitors, you don’t really want to be

Now it’s Your Turn
Now you should know WHY standing desks are good for you, WHAT you should look for in a standing desk, and even WHICH standing desk to get yourself.
So now it’s your turn, we recommend you give it a try. Also, remember that once you get your standing desk, you can look at getting some accessories - one which we recommend is a nice comfortable standing desk mat. Your body might not be used to long periods of standing so your knees, ankles and hips will thank you for a nice padded mat.
